The Living Together Institute joins the rest of Africa and its diaspora in celebrating the 2024 Africa Day under the befitting theme: Education Fit for the 21st Century. The celebrations are a call to action for Africa to invest in education that equips our young people with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Africa day is not only a reminder of Africa’s rich history and vibrant culture but as well a call to action to invest in a continent that will thrive now and for the future.
Education is the foundation for individual and collective success building into a prosperous Africa. The challenges and opportunities of the 21st century demand an education system that is innovative, inclusive, and adaptable. To achieve this, we must reimagine and revitalize our educational systems approaches to meet the needs and challenges of the 21st century. Africa must begin to move speedily towards a common education system that:
- Embraces technology and digital literacy, preparing students for a globalized economy.
- Fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills to drive innovation and sustainable development.
- Promotes inclusivity and equality, ensuring that all children, regardless of gender, background, or ability, have access to quality education.
- Cultivates a sense of global citizenship and social responsibility, empowering young people to contribute positively to their communities and the world.
